Info is Power - Installation/Poster

This is a sculptural poster inspired by the Guerilla Open Access Manifesto by Aaron Swartz. I screenprinted a quote from the Manifesto on to a transparent sheet, bolstered on a set of laptops.

Swartz’ Manifesto is about how people in society need to come together and share some information in order to benefit everyone. This made me think about the idea of transparency and hidden information. Everything on the internet can be potentially accessed by anyone if one has the correct password or the right code to unlock information. This is when I thought of using transparent paper with a grain, so that anything underneath could be seen but would still be blurry and obscure. The transparent sheet acts as a cloak that hides information from the public while the laptops represent the information that the viewer does not have access to.
